Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) is a flagship government scheme in India aimed at improving the efficiency of water use in agriculture. It was launched to ensure the optimal utilization of available water resources in agriculture and enhance water use efficiency on a farm level.
Har Khet Ko Pani: This component aims to provide irrigation facilities to every field to ensure "Har Khet Ko Pani" or "Water to Every Field." It focuses on creating new water sources, renovating traditional water bodies, and ensuring the efficient distribution of water.
Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Program (AIBP): AIBP aims to accelerate the completion of irrigation projects that are critical for increasing the irrigated area and improving water use efficiency.
Watershed Development: Watershed management and development programs are implemented to conserve rainwater and improve soil moisture, leading to increased agricultural productivity.
Per Drop More Crop: This component encourages farmers to adopt water-saving technologies and practices to increase crop productivity with the same amount of water.
Micro Irrigation: Promoting the adoption of micro-irrigation techniques like drip and sprinkler systems to enhance water use efficiency in agriculture.
Extension Activities: These include activities such as training farmers in efficient water use and agricultural practices.
